The Arenal Lava Hike Tour is an excellent opportunity to see breathtaking views of the Volcano, learn about the eruptive periods and all the human stories behind them, and the fascinating geological history of the Arenal.

The Arenal Volcano Lava Hike tour will start when your tour guide and transportation picks you up to take you to a beautiful rainforest preserve at the Volcano base.

Your tour guide will guide you to the closest spot you can reach in the region surrounding the Volcano. This hike is short, but it is a bit steep, and it will take a little of your energy.
Your bilingual local guide will tell you about the Volcano, its eruptive history, and its consequences for the region.

You will also learn about the different periods throughout history and see some of the old craters and the solidified lava fields.
All the information your tour guide gives you is from the insider’s point of view. The stories inside the history of the eruption of 1968, and the amazing facts of the fast recovery of the forests of the area.
You will also see the Green Lagoon, one of the jewels of the area. This lagoon is part of Cerro Chato, a nonactive volcano located right next to the iconic Arenal.
You will also have spectacular views of the Arenal Lake, the biggest and most important hydroelectrical project of the North Pacific region of Costa Rica

After that, you will take a different trail through the diversity of the rainforest, at the base of the Arenal Volcano hearing about the primary and the regenerated rainforest, and the differences between them.
Above all, during this hike, your guide will show you the best of our plants and birds’ diversity.

Finally, you will go back to the base where your vehicle will be waiting. Before you return to your hotel you will enjoy a delicious snack of fruits.
As an additional attraction, there is a choice to visit the natural hot springs for 3 more hours.
