Nature and adventure at the Tenorio Volcano National Park

Our Tenorio Volcano & Rio Celeste National Park Tour will take you to a hidden treasure!

In order to protect the Tenorio Volcano, which is still active today, they established the Tenorio National Park, in 1995. Because of that, this is one of the most recent parks in Costa Rica.

First, we will hike to the heart of the tropical jungle, through a deep green forest. During the trail, you will be able to spot a large variety of wildlife. This is one of the reasons this park is one of the best places for hiking.

Next, we will get to Celeste River, where a staircase will take you the closest to the streams. Here, you will have a unique experience of witnessing the amazing blue color of the waters. Although swimming is not permitted here, there is a viewing platform from which you can have the best view of the waterfall.

After this, we will walk for 3 more hours through the green rainforest along Celeste River in order to make it to “Los Teñideros”. Los Teñideros is the word in Spanish for “stainers”. As you walk through the river, our professional tour guide will explain about the mixing of sulfur and the calcium carbonate blend. Because of this, you will find out the reasons of the particular light-blue color that give a name to this river.

After this, we will visit the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful turquoise blue pool which is a great place to take the best pictures of this magical journey. Also, we will visit the hot springs that are placed at the base of the Volcano and surrounded by the lush rainforest.

Finally, for a perfect closure, we will head to the our selected restaurant, a few minutes from the Park. Here, you will have a traditional and delicious lunch.

Please note: The color of the river and the waterfall may be affected by the rains. Therefore, we will give no refunds in rainy conditions or bad weather.
